James D.
Associate Business Consultant
Being a career changer moving from architecture/design, I felt there were numerous skills that have helped me be successful at Kognitiv. The primary ones being creative, being a critical thinker, being a good communicator, and having an eagerness to try new things. I've found quickly that there is sometimes not one single way of solutioning something for a client. There's plenty of times we have to be creative and provide a workaround solution to achieve what a client is wanting to do. That's where being a critical thinker/problem solver comes in handy trying to investigate what is causing the issue and what may be the best way of fixing it. Having good communication skills falls hand in hand with the other skills because I find it's important to be able to provide information to the client that is understandable to them. Some clients we work with have a vast understanding of Workday, but on the other side of the spectrum there are clients that have little Workday experience and need a little extra explanation. Lastly, having an eagerness to try new things is very important. I find myself continually learning new things, and having the personality of not being afraid of failure and jumping right into a project/client issue has served me well. At Kognitiv there is an amazing culture of colleagues willing to help out if I ever have questions and need assistance with something I'm not sure about.
