When a new compensation administrator took over, they realized their process wasn’t configured to meet their needs. That’s when they turned to us. We rolled out around 15 iterations of compensation reviews, gathering their feedback through calls, making adjustments, and fine-tuning the process to their satisfaction. Since it was their first time using Workday, we also provided thorough training—showing them how the process could be achieved seamlessly, including all necessary pre-checks and post-checks.

I believe that being bold and being a risk taker is the main driver to success here. In reality, there are many WD consultants out there and not much separates one consultant from the other. The one thing that you have in your capacity is to be bold and to take risks in your solutions, consulting and interactions. Say yes when others have said no to something, go that extra mile to bend or shape the system to make it work for client needs. Ofcourse you must always manage expectations but taking that extra step to take initiative and problem solve when their is seemingly no solution out there will set you apart from others. This will build solid relationships with clients and help you highlight yourself at the organization and pave the way for growth.

You likely won't be able to step into this role and a new way of life and hit the ground running. My suggestion is to pace yourself. Learn the business and the flow of how things work. You will make mistakes. OWN THEM! You will have difficult conversations. OWN THEM! You will have triumphs that overshadow all. RELISH THEM! Once you have hit your stride. FLY! Take the rest of your team at KOG with you. Learn together. Grow together. Get a mentor early. Reach out and be social as much as you can. Consulting is difficult enough as it is, being 100% remote can add some unexpected rough air to the mix. Know that you are surrounded by like-minded resources that have traversed the same path as you. I would hope that you feel comfortable enough to reach out to me if you find yourself on the other side of the hire date!

I knew in my early HR jobs that I was interested in how teams used technology in their daily work. I thought that because I didn't have a background in computer science that it was an opportunity that had passed me by. But, in continuing to do the work I was doing while volunteering for projects that were related to systems-use, I was able to gain valuable experience that, when given the right environment, I was able to parlay into a career move that was both invigorating and gratifying. I was good at Talent Acquisition, but I feel like I have finally found work that is really right for me. It fits my personality and my intellectual and emotional needs more than my former career as a corporate recruiter. And Kognitiv, with its remote work environment, also fits where I am in my life, allowing me to be available for my son when needed. If I hadn't continued to seek out opportunities related to where I thought I might want to be from where I was at, I might not have ended up here. Of course, there are all kinds of paths that can lead to gratifying work, but I think it is important to pay attention to what brings you joy in your work day and do what you can to increase that. Work is still work (they don't call it "work" for nothing), but when you are able to do the work that lights you up inside, you add a healthy dose of happiness to your life!
