In my perfect world, I get to employ those in a way that benefits both my professional career and the people I support. * I strive to be able to put forth good work, enjoy the process of doing so, and know that others appreciate the outcome. I want to feel fulfillment from my work because after all, consumes nearly 1/3rd of my adult life. * If you know you're good at something and enjoy doing it, work on being the best at it and determine how to love every minute of doing it. Then figure out a way to make it your actual career so you get to do it every day, and get paid for it!

Company

What do you like about your job and the company?

* A Workday customer is spending a lot of money and time to implement and use the system. I enjoy helping them learn how to use Workday, find new ways to innovate within their current organizations' systems (i.e. changing policies or procedures), and empowering them to become super-users. * I also get a lot out of coaching colleagues at Kognitiv. Whether you have no experience or are at a senior level, we all have the occasional question. It's impossible to know everything about everything within Workday! So I appreciate having the knowledge to support fellow Koggers when they need it.

Greatest achievements

* I spent a long time working somewhere that didn't value my talents. There wasn't a way for me to grow into my career because they didn't believe in me. * When I finally had an opportunity to change employers and develop myself, it was the best thing for me. Not only did the new company value what I had to offer, but they also recognized me for my efforts, gave me support both personally and professionally, and wanted to see me do my best. * I chose myself when I made the change, even though I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I was afraid to lose what I had learned but even more afraid that I'd lost myself in the process. Since making that one move, I have continually taken an upward trajectory in my personal life and in my career. I made myself a priority, choosing to be who I am, and bettering who that person is, each and every day. * Coming to Kognitiv also was a "put me first" moment. By deciding to move out of the client-side world into consulting, I took a big chance on myself. My previous colleagues may have thought I was the "guru", but I knew better. I knew there was more to Workday than I'd learned at the time, and I wasn't let down. * Since then, I am confident that the decisions I make are right for me because I've stayed true to myself and my life's desires.

I am not sure where I would be career wise if I did not push myself to stay curious and continue to learn new skillsets. In and outside of work I love trying and learning new things, currently trying to learn French!

I knew in my early HR jobs that I was interested in how teams used technology in their daily work. I thought that because I didn't have a background in computer science that it was an opportunity that had passed me by. But, in continuing to do the work I was doing while volunteering for projects that were related to systems-use, I was able to gain valuable experience that, when given the right environment, I was able to parlay into a career move that was both invigorating and gratifying. I was good at Talent Acquisition, but I feel like I have finally found work that is really right for me. It fits my personality and my intellectual and emotional needs more than my former career as a corporate recruiter. And Kognitiv, with its remote work environment, also fits where I am in my life, allowing me to be available for my son when needed. If I hadn't continued to seek out opportunities related to where I thought I might want to be from where I was at, I might not have ended up here. Of course, there are all kinds of paths that can lead to gratifying work, but I think it is important to pay attention to what brings you joy in your work day and do what you can to increase that. Work is still work (they don't call it "work" for nothing), but when you are able to do the work that lights you up inside, you add a healthy dose of happiness to your life!

You likely won't be able to step into this role and a new way of life and hit the ground running. My suggestion is to pace yourself. Learn the business and the flow of how things work. You will make mistakes. OWN THEM! You will have difficult conversations. OWN THEM! You will have triumphs that overshadow all. RELISH THEM! Once you have hit your stride. FLY! Take the rest of your team at KOG with you. Learn together. Grow together. Get a mentor early. Reach out and be social as much as you can. Consulting is difficult enough as it is, being 100% remote can add some unexpected rough air to the mix. Know that you are surrounded by like-minded resources that have traversed the same path as you. I would hope that you feel comfortable enough to reach out to me if you find yourself on the other side of the hire date!
