Payroll to HR to HR Technology
Deciding what I want to do with my life, I've made a few changes over the years!
**Graduated with a Human Resources diploma
**Worked as a Generalist in my hometown
**Moved to a larger city and became skilled in Payroll and Benefits Administration, followed by general HR for the company and HRIS
**When the company went live with Workday, I transitioned into a formal HRIS role
**After a few years, I moved on to another company in the same city into a lateral role, followed by a Senior level HRIS position
**Switched over to consulting after three years of the prior, with a transition to Project Management after just over a year
**Now I'm planning a move into Implementation Advisory later this year!
Senior Functional Consultant, Advisory Services
* Advisory Services includes discussing the benefits of Workday and how it may help a client reach their objectives, helping build, fix, or support platform optimization, and serving as advocates who are dedicated to our clients' success and stability on Workday.
* I personally advise clients in the areas of Absence and Time Tracking, with additional support provided in Canadian payroll and benefits, and Core HCM.
Helping clients get the most out of their Workday investment
* A Workday customer is spending a lot of money and time to implement and use the system. I enjoy helping them learn how to use Workday, find new ways to innovate within their current organizations' systems (i.e. changing policies or procedures), and empowering them to become super-users.
* I also get a lot out of coaching colleagues at Kognitiv. Whether you have no experience or are at a senior level, we all have the occasional question. It's impossible to know everything about everything within Workday! So I appreciate having the knowledge to support fellow Koggers when they need it.
Do what brings you joy
*We all have various skills, abilities, talents, and desires. In my perfect world, I get to employ those in a way that benefits both my professional career and the people I support.
* I strive to be able to put forth good work, enjoy the process of doing so, and know that others appreciate the outcome. I want to feel fulfillment from my work because after all, consumes nearly 1/3rd of my adult life.
* If you know you're good at something and enjoy doing it, work on being the best at it and determine how to love every minute of doing it. Then figure out a way to make it your actual career so you get to do it every day, and get paid for it!
Putting myself first
* I spent a long time working somewhere that didn't value my talents. There wasn't a way for me to grow into my career because they didn't believe in me.
* When I finally had an opportunity to change employers and develop myself, it was the best thing for me. Not only did the new company value what I had to offer, but they also recognized me for my efforts, gave me support both personally and professionally, and wanted to see me do my best.
* I chose myself when I made the change, even though I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I was afraid to lose what I had learned but even more afraid that I'd lost myself in the process. Since making that one move, I have continually taken an upward trajectory in my personal life and in my career. I made myself a priority, choosing to be who I am, and bettering who that person is, each and every day.
* Coming to Kognitiv also was a "put me first" moment. By deciding to move out of the client-side world into consulting, I took a big chance on myself. My previous colleagues may have thought I was the "guru", but I knew better. I knew there was more to Workday than I'd learned at the time, and I wasn't let down.
* Since then, I am confident that the decisions I make are right for me because I've stayed true to myself and my life's desires.
