You can’t be a know-it-all, so my advice is simple: Be a Lifelong Learner. Stay curious, keep exploring, and never be afraid to ask for help. My journey from an MBA in HR to diving into Workday Consulting has taught me that there’s always something new to learn. The key is to stay curious, ask questions, and keep growing because when you’re constantly learning, there’s no limit to what you can achieve!

Company

What do you like about your job and the company?

As a Consultant, my true motivator is the thrill of tackling fresh challenges and constantly expanding my expertise. At Kognitiv, I’m energized by the chance to dive into new areas and solve complex problems. What truly drives me is the strong support system here—knowing that failure is never something to fear because Kog has your back. With initiatives like shadowing, partnering, office hours, and ongoing training, Kognitiv isn’t just a workplace—it’s a community where everyone is invested in each other’s growth and success. This collaborative environment fuels my drive to push boundaries and continually learn.

Greatest achievements

I’ve been with Kognitiv for just over a year now, and in that time, I had the amazing opportunity to work on five open enrollments, each with its own set of challenges. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but I made sure to navigate through the complexities and deliver high-quality work. The effort paid off, as I received some great feedback from both clients and teammates along the way!

*We all have various skills, abilities, talents, and desires. In my perfect world, I get to employ those in a way that benefits both my professional career and the people I support. * I strive to be able to put forth good work, enjoy the process of doing so, and know that others appreciate the outcome. I want to feel fulfillment from my work because after all, consumes nearly 1/3rd of my adult life. * If you know you're good at something and enjoy doing it, work on being the best at it and determine how to love every minute of doing it. Then figure out a way to make it your actual career so you get to do it every day, and get paid for it!

My path to being her has been somewhat not aligned. I have studied business, design, and finance and ended up in Integrations Consulting. I used to question myself and wonder if I am riding down the correct path because I didn't know it would lead to this opportunity, which I love dearly. Looking back at the journey, I can now say the education and the skills I gathered over the years are helping me grow in my current role and it now makes sense for everyone. Web Design course taught me the basics of HTML and CSS, which helped me to start with the basics of Integrations (Similar coding language, not the same) and helped develop a code logic acumen. The business degrees gave me the social skills for effective communication and finally, Finance probably paved the path to realization of how consulting is where I would be good at. A Year with Kognitv, and it all finally makes sense!

I knew in my early HR jobs that I was interested in how teams used technology in their daily work. I thought that because I didn't have a background in computer science that it was an opportunity that had passed me by. But, in continuing to do the work I was doing while volunteering for projects that were related to systems-use, I was able to gain valuable experience that, when given the right environment, I was able to parlay into a career move that was both invigorating and gratifying. I was good at Talent Acquisition, but I feel like I have finally found work that is really right for me. It fits my personality and my intellectual and emotional needs more than my former career as a corporate recruiter. And Kognitiv, with its remote work environment, also fits where I am in my life, allowing me to be available for my son when needed. If I hadn't continued to seek out opportunities related to where I thought I might want to be from where I was at, I might not have ended up here. Of course, there are all kinds of paths that can lead to gratifying work, but I think it is important to pay attention to what brings you joy in your work day and do what you can to increase that. Work is still work (they don't call it "work" for nothing), but when you are able to do the work that lights you up inside, you add a healthy dose of happiness to your life!
