Yes, there are multiple times when you work really hard on a project and the client/team decides not to go live with it. One such project was a large implementation project where I was leading one of the Workday modules. The scope that was initially decided was way too large and there was constant turnover in the customer's team as well as the internal team. The project eventually did not go live due to continuous scope changes as well lack of value of the final product. Things I learned from this were - the scope of bigger projects needs to be well defined, all stakeholders must be aligned in the requirement phase of the project itself, project timelines can be derailed due to external factors (covid, holiday season, etc.), a proper testing plan should be created once the requirement phase has been completed, it may be better to divide bigger projects into modules rather doing everything at once.
