Hi there! Thank you for your question. There are a couple of ways to get into Workday consulting, so I definitely recommend to check out all options to see which might be better suited for you.

1. Here at Kognitiv, we run an Early Careers program where we hire a small group of people who are looking to transition their career into being a Workday Consultant. We are almost done the recruitment process for our Adaptive and Financials teams, however we will be opening up additional positions for HCM and Integrations. These positions are available for those residing in Canada as well. Visit our Early Careers page on our site for more information and to register your interest to know when the other spots will open up.

2. You could get hired by an organization that currently uses Workday, and support them with maintaining, stabilizing and improving the system. This would get you some hands on experience which would make the transition to being a Workday Consultant easier as you would have some great transferrable skills.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you all the best in your Workday journey!

Thank you so much for responding so quickly !!

I have been trying relentlessly to get a role in an org using WD, but haven’t been seeing any light on that front. Becoming a WD consultant is my career goal. I will surely register for the Early Careers program and keep a lookout- do you only hire fresh graduates into this program or experienced hires are eligible to enter the program too ?

Does it help to get trained on WD through training centers like CloudFoundation?

That's awesome that you're trying to get into WD! I was in a similar boat a few years ago where I was at the tail end of 10 years in the design/architecture field and looking for a change. I was successful in getting into Kognitiv's program at that time and the rest is history. I, myself, had no prior HR or Workday experience. I did however have experience with other technology from my prior field and am a fast learner of new things so I was able to pick it up fast. Don't get me wrong...there is still plenty more for me to learn :). Kognitiv got us up and running with awesome HCM training from very experienced product leads - they truly have set myself and all the associates for success. What's also great is it doesn't matter where your from ---- people at Kognitiv live all around the world (US, Canada, India, etc.).

We take in experienced professionals as well - you do not need to be a new graduate in order to be considered. I'd say you can't go wrong in learning as much about Workday as possible, but I think it would come down to the cost. Getting trained in Workday outside of the Workday Certification Program doesn't guarantee anything - so if the training is free, I say check it out. However if it's costly, I wouldn't recommend it personally. I also am not familiar with CloudFoundation, so I'm unable to speak on it.

A good resource to learn more about Workday is Reddit - there's a lot of discourse over there that might be useful to your learning. And don't forget to check out our podcast - there are some great insights shared in those episodes as well.

Thank you for all the information, Jessica & James! I am based in Vancouver and looking for an opportunity here. I was looking at going through a training centre because it offers a structured course for learning in addition to learning resources( trainers & material). The enrolment also helps to get my kids into daycare while I get dedicated hours of learning every day. I was unable to find anything similar offered in Vancouver. I will surely refer to all the resources you’ve mentioned.
